A popular shopping centre in Glasgow has announced it welcomed a record number of visitors in 2023.

Glasgow Fort has said that footfall was nearly up by three per cent last year.

The East End facility also has revealed that retailers across the centre saw strong sales figures, with multi-retail, health and beauty, and food and beverage outlets performing well throughout the year.

According to the centre, a selection of new openings helped contribute to its success, with the arrival of a new Zara, Mango, Rituals, and Hotel Chocolat.

The leisure venue has also welcomed two sustainability-focused retailers, with the opening of the Charity Super.Mkt pop-up in the summer and Leith Collective, an environmentally conscious fashion, art, and hardware shop, towards the end of the year.

Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort said: “Against a very challenging backdrop, we’re really pleased with the number of customers who shopped with us last year, with footfall up nearly 3% on 2022.

“We’re home to a really broad selection of retailers – both in terms of price point and also the size of their business, supporting local independents to some of the nation’s biggest brands, giving shoppers a fantastic offering when they come to the centre.

“I’m looking forward to another busy year ahead, and I’m excited to share updates on Primark’s opening, as well as other new stores joining the centre over the course of the year.”
