A woman and child have been arrested after an alleged incident near a busy shopping centre. 

Cops rushed to the Tryst Road area of Cumbernauld on Sunday afternoon following a report of a disturbance at the Centre. 

The pair, aged 34 and 13, were arrested and charged in connection.

The force added that reports will be sent to the relevant authorities. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 5.30pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024, to a report of a disturbance in the Tryst Road area of Cumbernauld.

“Two females, aged 34 and 13, were arrested and charged in connection with this incident.

"Reports will be sent to the relevant authorities."

The owner of the shopping centre, North Lanarkshire Council, did not wish to comment.
