An East Kilbride soft play has reopened after a boy fell seven feet from a platform at the venue.

The Wee Play House is now welcoming customers back after the young boy was taken to hospital following an incident which happened earlier this month.

The family run indoor playground is reassuring the public that a thorough investigation into their equipment passed all health and safety guidelines.

We previously reported how South Lanarkshire Council then hit the indoor playground with a Prohibition Notice on the use of their equipment.

The business is thanking customers for their patience and is looking forward to “welcoming the local community again”.

The softplay posted on Facebook: “Wee Play House will resume normal opening hours from Tuesday, February 13.

“During our period of closure, we have worked proactively with relevant authorities to undertake a thorough investigation into our equipment and we are pleased to confirm that it complies with all health and safety guidelines.

“We fully appreciate concerns around safety and, as a family run business, we would like to reassure all our customers that the safety of your children is paramount to us.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience throughout our period of closure and we now look forward to welcoming the local community to again enjoy our facilities.

“As part of this, we are offering free entry to all visitors until Friday 16 February, including guests with pre-existing bookings.”

We previously reported how a spokesperson for The Wee Play House said: “We can confirm an ambulance was called on Thursday, February 1, after it was reported that a child fell from an approximate 7ft play platform.

“The little boy was taken to hospital as a precaution and to the best of our knowledge and based on feedback from the medical professionals who attended, he is well.

“Having liaised with the council, we took the decision to fully close the soft play.

“Since then, we have organised for the official UK body for examining, accrediting, and certificating inflatable, indoor and outdoor play to visit us and examine our equipment and will only reopen on their approval.

“During this time, we have also carried out some planned upgrades.

“We would like to underline that the safety of children is paramount to us. Incident forms are completed on site, and we take our responsibility to providing a safe, inclusive space extremely seriously.”

We reported how a spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council, said: “After being made aware of the incident by Police Scotland, Environmental Health Officers visited the premises where an assessment of soft play equipment was carried out. “This resulted in a Prohibition Notice being served on the use of the equipment pending a detailed inspection.

“This process is ongoing. The Service has also been made aware of additional complaints, received after the initial notification from Police Scotland and these have been followed up.

“In the meantime, we continue to liaise with the business to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.”
