New homes could be built on a "historic derelict" land in Glasgow.

A planning application was submitted to build 173 units on a vacant East End land.

The South Dalmarnock development would contain a mix of terraced houses and flats.

There would be two apartment blocks, ranging from four to six stories in its corners to frame the site.

A mixture of two- and three-storey buildings would be erected along French Street.

54 of the homes would be for private sale and 119 for social housing.

If successful, the Northeast plot would be developed by Clyde Gateway Developments Ltd and become an amenity space for residents.

The application site is located within the South Dalmarnock Integrated Urban Infrastructure Masterplan area [SDIUIF], which was originally prepared in 2010 to reflect the regeneration aspirations of Clyde Gateway.

Applicant CCG Homes Ltd said in the documents: "The site is characterised as one of long-standing, historic vacancy, and dereliction. The applicant is in the final stages of acquiring the site from Clyde Gateway."

They also reveal that the site has been unused for more than 40 years, since the residential tenement blocks were demolished in the 1970’s.

Glasgow City Council's planning committee is considering the application and a decision is expected by Monday, April 15.

The last day for comments is Monday, March 18.
