A drunk man attacked and bit staff before a Gerry Cimmanon gig in Glasgow.

Calum Gilchrist, 26, was heavily intoxicated around 6.30pm on July 17, 2022 at Hampden Park, where the show was taking place.

The Barrhead man was falling into the paths of others.

An event supervisor approached and he became aggressive and shouted: “You Fenian c**ts”.

The worker and a colleague tried to escort him out but Gilchrist began to struggle and threw punches.

He was shouting, swearing and refused to leave.

A struggle ensued which caused the three of them to fall to the ground.

Another person came to help the employees.

Gilchrist tried to punch them, he lunged and kicked towards them.

Then, he tried to bite the event supervisor’s right shin several times. He then bit his leg on the right knee.

This did not breach the skin but left a red mark.

Police were called, and they restrained Gilchrist.

He kicked the worker’s leg and continued to shout “f**king c**ts”.

Gilchrist was conveyed to Cathcart Street police station, where he was not cautioned and charged due to his behaviour.

The staff member was taken to a medical tent and was given painkillers.

Gilchrist appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week after he pleaded guilty to assault and resisting arrest.

His lawyer said: "There is no excuse whatsoever. He entered the stadium in a relatively sober state. Then, he got drunk on the inside and needed help to sit down."

Sheriff Joan Kerr said to Gilchrist: "As you yourself recognise, your conduct was really deplorable both in terms of your actions and words. I have reviewed your circumstances."

He was tagged for 163 days, which requires him to stay at home between 7pm and 7am every day.

The sheriff added: "If you ever breach this order, I can still consider you for custody."
