A manhunt has been launched after a man was brutally 'stabbed' in broad daylight. 

We previously reported that 999 crews raced to Bankhouse Dental Care in Airdrie on Wednesday, February 28, following the incident. 

After the horror ordeal, a 34-year-old was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

At the time of the attack, the dental practice said: “Bankhouse Dental Care at Airdrie in North Lanarkshire can confirm that a person has been treated and discharged from hospital following a stabbing incident outside the East High Street." 

Now, detectives have said it is 'vital' that they trace the person responsible for what they are calling a 'targeted' attack. 

Detailing the suspect, the force said they have been described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches, dressed in dark clothing, wearing a dark coat with the hood up and spoke with a local accent.  

Detective Constable Graham Anderson, Coatbridge CID, said: “It’s vital we trace the person responsible for this attack which happened in broad daylight in a busy area of Airdrie.

“I’d appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to come forward. Likewise, if you have dashcam or private CCTV of East High Street around 8.40am on Wednesday, February 28, please contact police to bring this to our attention.

“We are treating this as a targeted attack however officers are carrying out regular patrols of the area.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland previously said: “Officers are investigating a serious assault incident which took place in the car park of a premises on East High Street, Airdrie, at around 8.40am on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

“A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Officers are treating this as a targeted attack and enquiries remain ongoing.”
