Protestors disrupted First Minister Questions in Holyrood today as they were seen shouting from the public gallery.

This Is Rigged activists brought the FMQs to an alleged 'standstill' by shouting throughout the duration of the sessions and prompting responses from both the presiding officer and the First Minister himself.

The group shouted questions like, "First Minister, one in four people in Scotland are food insecure, what are you doing about this?” and “First Minister, will you commit to establishing community food hubs for all people in Scotland?”

It comes after the group stole food from Sainsbury's and handed it out to the Glasgow public yesterday, and sprayed fire extinguishers of soup at the statues of Queen Victoria and Prine Albert in George Square earlier in the week.

The recent actions are part of This Is Rigged's demands to Scottish Government which include slashing supermarket prices to what they were in March 2021, and establishing and supporting community food hubs for every 500 households in Scotland

This Is Rigged have vowed to continue to escalate actions until their demands are met.

Talking on today’s disruption, one protestor said: "We are doing everything we can to be heard and they are doing everything they can to pretend they can't hear us, so we'll shout it to their faces."

Another said: “I was completely outraged and shocked to hear that one in four Scots are living in food insecurity, with thousands of children across Scotland currently being treated for malnutrition.

"I am disgusted by the government for not taking these issues seriously, they are not doing nearly enough to support those living in food insecurity. Food is a human right, and I refuse to sit back while members of the community go hungry.”

A third person added: “It is morally reprehensible to stand as a politician of your nation and allow mothers and children to go hungry and suffer malnutrition whilst allowing big corporations and the elite to continue profiting from such inequality.

"If the Scottish government has any degree of integrity, they would take action to ensure everyone can access basic needs and live as dignified citizens of our community.

"Hunger is a political choice, state ignorance is a crime.”
