An 'XL-Bully' dog has been killed after armed cops raced to an incident on a busy street.
Officers say they were called to assist with restraining an XL Bully-type dog on Broughton Place in Coatbridge at around 3.40pm on Thursday, March 7.
During the incident, a vet attended and the dog was put down.
Luckily, no one was injured during the ordeal.
However, a 30-year-old woman has since been charged with an offence relating to the Dangerous Dogs Act.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
During the incident, the force revealed armed officers were in attendance as a precaution.
Meanwhile, locals took to social media and claimed part of the area was 'taped off', while cops stood guard.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 3.40pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024, officers attended outside a property in Broughton Place, Coatbridge, after being called to assist with restraining an XL Bully-type dog.
"A vet also attended to euthanise the dog.
"No one was injured during the incident.
“A 30-year-old woman has been charged with an offence relating to the Dangerous Dogs Act and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
