An urgent warning has been issued as two busy roads in Glasgow are set to be closed.

Scottish Water has said that part of Mosspark Drive eastbound will be shut to traffic turning onto Corkerhill Road northbound and southbound from March 25 until April 26.

It will be closed to allow the firm to carry out testing of a new water main.

On top of that, the company has also said Edmiston Drive will be closed westbound from the Broomloan Road roundabout to the Helen Street roundabout from Monday, March 18, for two weeks.

This is to facilitate a power connection for a water pumping station.

A diversion will be in place throughout both closures.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: "Scottish Water is advising road users in the southwest of Glasgow of some road traffic management during our investment in improvements to our infrastructure and service to customers.

"We apologise for any disruption caused by these two pieces of road traffic management and thank affected road users in advance for their patience and understanding.

"We have liaised with Glasgow City Council while planning our work and road traffic management."

The work is part of the Glasgow Resilience Project, which involves the installation of seven miles of new pipes to connect the Glasgow area’s water network and the system in Ayrshire.

The new water main is being installed in the Ibrox, Mosspark, Pollok, Priesthill, Nitshill and Parkhouse areas of Glasgow.
