A four-star Glasgow hotel could add an extra 90 rooms for due to demand.

Doubletree by Hilton on Cambridge Street has submitted a planning application to add a three-storey extension to each wing of the building.

Papers stated that "the extension will provide much-needed additional capacity for the hotel to meet the increasing demand, enabling the hotel to continue to support the wider area.

"The extension simply connects into the existing hotel by extending the existing corridor, minimising impact to the building and enabling the existing lifts and stairs to be used to serve the extension."

Currently, the building has eight floors and 304 bedrooms arranged in a crescent shape around the main stair and lift cores.

The hotel's ground floor has dining and function rooms, as well as a 1,500-capacity ballroom, bar, pool and a 200-car parking structure.

Glasgow City Council's planning bosses are reviewing the application and a decision is expected by Friday, May 10.

The last day for comments is Thursday, April 11.
