A FIRE on Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street is being treated as deliberate.

We previously reported that 999 crews raced to the scene at around 2am on Thursday following a blaze in the area.

In videos, smoke could be seen billowing from the top of a building.

It has now been revealed that the fire was started from a skip.

Firefighters left the scene soon after but police confirmed that this is being considered a deliberate attack.

An investigation has been launched.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.10am on Thursday, March 21, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire within a skip on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing."
