A man was arrested following an alleged robbery of a shop in Glasgow.

The incident is said to have occurred in a Scotmid store in the city's Balarnark on Saturday night.

A 44-year-old man was charged in connection with the alleged incident.

He appeared in court on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a shop in the Budhill Avenue area of Glasgow, which took place around 9.15pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

"He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 26 March, 2024.

“Further enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.”

Scotmid confirmed that they were supporting cops with their investigation, which is continuing. 

A Scotmid spokesperson said: “ We are cooperating fully with the investigation into the incident at the Scotmid on Budhill Avenue on March 23.

"The safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff remain our top priority.”
