A MAN was caught driving in Glasgow after smoking cannabis.

Two police officers were told of people smoking cannabis in a vehicle around 8.30pm on July 4 last year.

The car was spotted parked on Scotstoun Drive in the West End.

Driver Mohammed Lazim, 22, of London, spoke to the officers, who noticed a strong smell of cannabis.

The vehicle was searched and Lazim told the cops “I have been smoking cannabis in the last hour”.

He provided a saliva and breath sample. They were positive for the drug.

Lazim was arrested and taken to Clydebank police station, where a sample of his blood was also analysed.

A reading of 2.5 microgrammes of the substance in one litre of blood was recorded.

Lazim appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after pleading guilty to driving while under the influence of the drug.

He was representing himself and said: “It was my first time in Glasgow.

“Part of the reason why I moved here from London was the people I was hanging out with.

“I would like to apologise for that.

"I live with my parents."

Lazim was disqualified from driving or obtaining a licence for 12 months and fined £200.
