An independent restaurant which was set to shut down has moved its closing date.

We previously reported Villaggio Pizza in Eaglesham revealed it would be closing its doors on Saturday, June 1.

Announcing the sad news originally, bosses of the business revealed they wanted to let their children - who work at the pizzeria - embark on their own careers and also turn their attention more closely to another business.

However, the pizza spot has taken to social media to announce it will now be shutting down on Saturday, June 8 instead.

In the post, the restaurant said they have been 'blown away' with all the support they have received since announcing the closure.

The family-run venue also apologised to customers who haven't been away to receive their orders after they have been 'running out of stock' the last few weekends.

A spokesperson for the eatery on social media said: "We’re on to update you all on a change to our closing date.

"We are now going to be closing on June 8.

"We have been absolutely blown away with all your lovely comments both on our page and in person in the shop.

"We would also like to apologise to all that haven’t been able to get pizzas etc - on the last couple of weekends when we ran out of stock.

"We will make more and try to stop disappointing you.

"So to help this you now have another week before we close."

After revealing they will be remaining open for one more week than originally announced, fans of the venue flocked to the comments of the post to share their happiness about the news.

One said: "This is brilliant news."

Another chimed: "Awesome guys. Will try to get a last one."

While a third said: "Brilliant."
