A free cycling festival is to take place in Glasgow, encouraging families to get involved.

The event, organised by Women On Wheels, will take place in Queens Park on Saturday, June 1, from 11am until 5pm.

Participants will take part in cycle lessons, Dr Bike, maintenance classes, arts and crafts, led rides and more.

For the first time, a mountain biking taster session will also take place.

Glasgow Times:

Shgufta Anwar, founder of Women On Wheels, said: "This is our fourth festival and we are super excited to be holding it again in the heart of Govanhill in Queens Park.

"They have been incredibly successful in the past and we have reached nearly 1000 women - most of which didn't cycle regularly.

"These festivals are important to ensure we reach people who are not only unaware of Women On Wheels and the services we offer, but who are hard to engage or reach and have so many barriers to accessing services.

"We aim to reduce as many of their barriers as possible on the day to give them a taste of our services and the benefits of cycling. The real hard work begins after though, when we will engage with these women and get them to a confident cycling stage

"We could not have done this without support from Glasgow Life via ECOS Legacy Fund."
