A 'police incident' on the M8 near Glasgow Airport closed the motorway in both directions.

Drivers can expect delays on the motorway near junction 27 Paisley on Tuesday morning.

Traffic Scotland first reported the incident at around 6.14am and they issued an update at 7.11am that the incident was cleared.

However, they said commuters would still face 'very lengthy' delays as traffic returned to normal.

Buses also faced delays this morning, as Stagecoach tweeted that their services have been affected by the closure.

One driver said on social media: "I’m currently at a standstill on the St James slip road before the airport. Been here for 30 mins so far."

Another said: "Queues are already building."

The Glasgow Times understands the incident was related to concern for a person.

Police Scotland could not provide a statement.
