A car ran a red light and hit a dog before fleeing the scene.
The reckless driver was travelling in a silver Citreon DS3 Crossback in the Stonehouse area on Friday, May 3.
They struck the dog on Strathaven Road at around 2.35pm while it was crossing the road with its owner.
Thankfully the dog was not injured but the driver did not stop.
Detectives are trying to find the driver and they are urging anyone who saw the Citreon in the area on May 3 to come forward.
They are also keen for any other motorists with possible dashcam footage or anyone with information that may help with our investigation to contact police.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 2441 of May 3 or make a call anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
