A model flying club has applied to North Lanarkshire Council seeking approval for the continued use of a field in Auchinloch.
Since 2019 Glasgow Barnstormers has been using a field off Langmuirhead Road, having in 2019 been granted temporary consent for the purpose of flying model aircraft, and is now seeking permission to continue its recreational activities on a permanent basis.
The existing permission allows members to use the field from 9am to 8pm on a daily basis, although members usually only fly their models at weekends and occasionally during the week, and only during periods of fine weather.
Documents provided alongside the application state that members keep their models within designated boundaries.
As part of the application, the club was required to submit a survey of birds breeding in the vicinity of the field and duly submitted this.
Although the closest town to the field is Kirkintilloch in East Dunbartonshire, the site in question is within the boundary of North Lanarkshire Council.
