A Scottish singer who featured on The Voice and is battling cancer for the third time says headlining a Glasgow venue will be her Christmas present this year.
Roisin McCarney blew The Voice judges away with her rendition of Blondie’s Call Me in season 14 of the hit show – earning her a spin from McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, but the Chryston-born and based star has been on music’s radar for the last four years.

“Playing the Classic Grand is my Christmas present; I am so excited for it,” the alternative-pop singer told the Glasgow Times.
She continued: “I’m not really sleeping because when I’m going to bed, I am just thinking about my routines and words.
“I am like a child; I just get overexcited and overstimulated.
“It’s obviously a big venue but it would be absolutely amazing if I could sell it out. It would end the year with an absolute bang.”
And fans attending the show will need to rest their vocal cords and seek out their dancing shoes, it seems.
Roisin said: “Not to toot my own horn but it is a really fun night.
“I will be playing some songs from The Voice as well as teasing some new music which will be released next year.
“Everyone has a bit of a laugh, a dance and a sing-along. I teach everyone the words to some songs and make them sing with me, so they have to get involved.”
As we close in on waving goodbye to 2024, Roisin described her year and journey so far as being constantly uphill.
But the only downfall of the year, as Roisin called it, was her cancer returning for a third time.
The singer was first diagnosed with stage three skin cancer in 2020 before being cleared in 2022. However, it returned this year.

Now on different treatment, Roisin is determined to keep positive and motivated with a little help from her fans.
She explained: “I am doing alright on my new treatment and I’m still managing to do my shows, so I’m happy.
“Music is my escape and my therapy. I write my feelings out on the guitar and the piano and then I get it out of my system.
“When you are sad you want to put on a sad song or listen to someone else’s music and I’ve had people message me before saying they have listening to my songs, and it has pulled them out of certain places they have been in.
“It’s not nice to hear they are in those places, but it is nice to hear I am that for somebody else. That gives me motivation."
Roisin’s Classic Grand show will take place on Friday, December 6.
