A football fan has been banned from going to matches after letting off a flare in the crowd at Hampden Park.
Evan Macdonald, 27, of Aberdeen, was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to two charges.
He admitted to culpably and recklessly igniting and holding a smoke-emitting pyrotechnic above his head within a crowded stadium to the danger of the lieges and having a flare in his possession without a reasonable excuse.
The court heard that on November 2, 2024, a number of pyrotechnic devices were let off amongst Aberdeen supporters at Hampden.
On this date, the Pittodrie club faced Celtic in the Scottish League Cup semi-final, where they lost 6-0.

Kick off had been scheduled for 5.30pm, however, it eventually took place at 5.45pm.
The 15-minute delay was due to the pitch being flooded with smoke after both sets of fans lit flares as the players entered the field of play.
Following this, CCTV footage was reviewed and police carried out enquiries at Hampden.

Macdonald was identified as being one of the men involved.
CCTV showed him holding a red pyrotechnic high in the air clearly igniting it amongst the crowd.
Macdonald was then cautioned and charged on December 12.
His lawyer told the court that her client had been in close communication with the football club following the incident.
Sheriff Anthony Deutsch commented that Macdonald ‘does have a record’.
Macdonald was fined £320 and placed on a football banning order for one year.
