A Glasgow road was forced to close and multiple properties were evacuated after a building was deliberately torched.

Arcadia Street in the East End was shut at around 12am on Monday, April 21, between London Road and McPhail Street due to a police incident, Glasgow City Council said.

Now, officers have revealed they were alerted to a fire at a premises on Greenhead Street nearby.

Cops were called to the blaze at around 11.35pm on Sunday, April 20.

Emergency services raced to the scene. After that, several properties in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Luckily, no one was injured during the inferno.

Following it, the force has revealed they are treating the fire as 'wilful'. An investigation into the incident is underway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.35pm on Sunday, April 20, 2025, we were called to a report of a fire at a premises on Greenhead Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended, and a number of properties were evacuated as a precaution.

“There are no reported injuries.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
