Glasgow train services disrupted after person hit by train

ScotRail said emergency crews are currently dealing with an incident between Portlethen and Aberdeen.

To allow emergency teams to safely access the railway and carry out their work, all lines between the two stations are currently shut.

Due to this, the rail firm has said train services between Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street may face delays, revisions, or cancellations.

Trains between Aberdeen and Edinburgh may also face disruption, while services between Dundee and Arbroath have been cancelled.

According to National Rail, a person has been struck by a train between Stonehaven and Aberdeen. 

The British Transport Police said they were alerted to the incident at around 6.24am this morning.

The force received a report of a casualty on the tracks in Aberdeen. Officers and medics rushed to the scene; however, tragically, a person was pronounced dead.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious. 

A spokesperson said: "A person has been hit by a train between Stonehaven and Aberdeen.

"To allow the emergency services to safely access the railway and carry out their work, all lines running between these stations are currently closed.

"Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

"This is expected until 10am."

(Image: X) Meanwhile, a ScotRail spokesperson added: "Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Portlethen and Aberdeen.

"To allow them to safely access the railway and carry out their work, all lines running between these stations are currently closed.

"We’ll keep you updated.

"Train services between Dundee and Arbroath will be suspended, with services between Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street/Edinburgh subject to cancellation, delay or revision."

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 6.24am today (May 28) to reports of a casualty on the tracks in Aberdeen.

"Officers and paramedics responded; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."
