Three people have been rushed to hospital following a major three-vehicle crash earlier today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Stockiemuir Road, between Carbeth and Craigton village, shortly after 1.15pm.

Three ambulances, two paramedic response cars, a critical care paramedic, a trauma team and two special operations response teams (SORT) were at the scene.

Three people were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and another person was treated at the scene.

The Glasgow Times reported earlier today that A809 is closed from the junction with the B821 due to the ongoing crash.

Police Scotland said: "The A809 is closed from the junction with the B821 at Carbeth to Craigton village near Milngavie following a three-vehicle crash that happened around 1.20pm on Wednesday, June 11.

"Emergency services are in attendance and road users are advised to avoid the area."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1.15pm to attend a three-car road traffic collision on the A809, Stockiemuir Road.

"Three ambulances, two paramedic response cars, a critical care paramedic, a trauma team and two special operations response teams (SORT) were dispatched to the scene. 

"Three patients were transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and one patient was treated at the scene.”

A post shared by Police Scotland Greater Glasgow on X read: "The A809 has reopened following a three-vehicle crash near Craigton village, Milngavie, that happened around 1.20pm on Wednesday, June 11.

"Three people were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. One person was treated at the scene."
