A serial thief who lashed out at police officers after being caught stealing from a car has been jailed for 19 months.
James Corr, 27, was spotted in a Ford Ranger outside a property in Glasgow's Sandyhills on April 21 2024.
Corr was chased by police before he became aggressive and caused spit to land on the bodies of two officers.
Corr, of the city's Barlanark, later claimed that he was HIV positive.
The incident took place four years after Corr was jailed for 16 months for an assault and robbery of a man over £20.
Corr and two unknown men pounced on Zenon Sergeil, 59, in Glasgow’s Easterhouse area in January 2020.
The victim had his wallet taken with the Polish-national suffering several injuries including a fractured eye socket. Mr Sergeil spent 12 days in hospital following the ordeal.
Corr pleaded guilty to his two latest charges of theft and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
The court heard that Corr was found in the drivers seat of a Ford Ranger.
A witness was alerted to Corr as the headlights flashed on and off.
Corr rummaged around the vehicle and looking for items within.
He made off with a set of keys, a remote control and cash.
Police were called and officers found Corr still in the vehicle.
Corr fled the scene but was later apprehended.
He acted aggressively towards the officers.
Prosecutor Heather Naismith said: "He repeatedly spat and it landed on the ground and the legs of a police officer."
Corr went on to shout with droplets of saliva landing on one of the officer's faces.
He later told officers that he had HIV.

In a later incident on August 30 2024, Corr entered a white Audi car but his actions were unknown.
The owner later entered the car and found items strewn within.
Corr had made off with a bag and its contents as well as a set of keys.
Bob McDowall, defending, told the court: "This was disgraceful, bizarre behaviour.
"He brought attention upon himself and he has reiterated his sincere apologies."
Sheriff Joan Kerr stated when jailing Corr that he committed "reprehensible, disgusting behaviour."
