A major retailer has announced the closure of more than 30 of its stores across the UK, including one near Glasgow.

River Island confirmed it will push ahead with the closure of 33 of its shops – six of which are in Scotland - after receiving court approval for a huge restructuring.

A high court judge approved the high street fashion chain’s restructuring plan on Friday, August 8, amid fears that the company could collapse into administration without an overhaul.

Amongst the units set to shut is the Cumbernauld store on Tryst Road.
