A warning has been issued amid 'delays' on Glasgow's M8 as months of major roadworks begin.

Traffic Scotland said that drivers can expect delays on the motorway between Junctions 24 and 27 this morning (Monday, September 8).

In a post on X, the road firm said that due to works resulting in a contraflow system on the M8, motorists travelling westbound are facing delays of 15 minutes, while drivers heading eastbound can expect delays of 25 minutes.

Due to the delays, road users are being urged to allow 'extra time' for their journeys.

We reported how speed cameras will be in operation on the M8 from September 8, and parts of the motorway will be shut over the coming months due to major works.

Starting today, Amey will carry out a bridge refurbishment project, including rail and slip road upgrades, on the busy road at Junction 26 (Hillington Interchange).

The 'essential works', valued at £10 million, will be completed over five phases from September 2025 until Spring 2026.
