Police have now revealed the 39-year-old had been taken into police custody before he became unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service. His family have been made aware.

His death is being treated as unexplained.

Enquiries remain ongoing, and the circumstances around how the man died will now be probed by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The circumstances of the incident have been referred to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).”

Two women, aged 25 and 40, and a 27-year-old man were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers remain at the scene but say there is no threat to the wider public.

The Glasgow Times previously reported that the CID were confirmed to be on the scene, and a detective was spotted coming out of the Gaelic School, which is situated along the street.

Several cordons were put in place along the street, and dozens of cops were spotted on the scene.

The PIRC has been contacted for comment.
