A Knightswood woman has been found guilty of repeatedly striking a woman on the head with an electric heater.
Deborah Ross was found guilty today at the High Court in Paisley, of assaulting Karen Carter in March 2023, at a flat in Glasgow’s Maryhill.
Ross, of Culbin Drive, was initially accused, alongside James Dowall, of abducting and attempting to murder Ms Carter.
Prosecutors claimed Dowall, 72, and Ross bound Ms Carter with duct tape, covered her moth with duct tape and that she was not allowed to leave the flat before allegedly being assaulted.
The violence is said to include being punched, kicked and hit on the head with an electric heater. Ms Carter is said to have fallen to the floor and had “liquid” poured over her.
It is further claimed that the pair made threats, scratched her, dragged her by the hair and shoved her into a bath.
The indictment claimed this was all to her injury, danger of life and that the duo did attempt to murder her.
The jury found the case against Dowall, off Glenfinnan Road, in the city, as not proven.
Ross, was convicted of a lesser charge of assault.
The jury today found 32-year-old Ross guilty of assaulting Ms Carter by repeatedly punching and kicking her on the head.
Ross also repeatedly struck Ms Carter on the head with an electric heater, uttered threats of violence and repeatedly scratched her face.
Defence agent Mr Mullen asked for background reports to be prepared.
He stated Ross has been on bail for the matter since 2023 and asked for her status to continue.
Judge Gallagher said he was “concerned” by Ross’s record of previous convictions.
He stated: “The jury have convicted you of a significant charge but much less significant than the one you were facing.”
Sentence was adjourned for a criminal justice social work report.
Ross had her bail continued and will be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on January 21.
