People are being urged to look after their oral health during the winter months.
NHS Lanarkshire is warning residents not to delay dental appointments during colder weather, as routines are often disrupted by seasonal illness, shorter days or shifting priorities.
The health board is reminding people that dental care is part of overall wellbeing, and that delaying check-ups or treatment can lead to more serious problems.

Geraldeen Irving, clinical director for the Public Dental Service at NHS Lanarkshire, said: “Looking after your teeth and gums is an important part of staying healthy, and it’s something we shouldn’t put off during the winter months.
“When people are feeling unwell or busy with other pressures, dental care can sometimes take a back seat, but delaying treatment can allow problems to develop.
“Whether you’re already registered with a dentist or not, support is available locally.
“Our services are there to help people access the right care at the right time, and we would encourage anyone with concerns about their oral health to seek advice early rather than waiting until problems become more difficult to manage.”
NHS Lanarkshire is encouraging people to seek advice early to prevent minor issues from becoming urgent.
Adults aged 16 and over who are not registered with an NHS dentist can access one free course of treatment through the Public Dental Service’s dental outreach clinic at the Buchanan Centre in Coatbridge.
Treatment is delivered by dental students and dental hygiene/therapy students under the supervision of experienced dentists.

Those looking to register with an NHS dentist for ongoing care can visit www.nhslanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk/dental-services for information on local dental practices.
The website also provides a list of practices currently accepting new NHS patients.
NHS Lanarkshire is asking anyone wishing to join the waiting list for the student outreach clinic to call 01698 754 650.
Registered patients can also be referred to the clinic for either a single treatment or a full course of care, where appropriate.
