A major road in Glasgow has been shut until further notice due to an emergency.
The busy commuter road has been shut in one direction due to gas repair works, which were revealed at 11.30am this morning, March 3.
Scottish Gas Network (SGN) confirmed the closure of the westbound carriageway of Dumbarton Road.
The Glasgow Times spoke with SGN staff who said it's unclear when the road will be accessible again, but say they expect "significant disruption."
A spokesperson for SGN said: "We’re carrying out emergency gas repairs to our network in Dumbarton Road, Glasgow.
"Due to the location of the gas mains we need to repair, Dumbarton Road is currently being closed in the westbound direction heading towards Clydebank, between its junctions with Queen Victoria Drive and Duchall Place.
"A signed diversion will be in place for westbound motorists via Queen Victoria Drive, Anniesland Road, Dumbarton Road.
"We know this is a major road and anticipate significant disruption. Please plan your journey accordingly.
"We’re working as quickly as possible to complete repairs and would like to thank Glasgow and Clydebank residents and motorists for their patience and understanding.
"It’s too early at this stage to say how long repairs will take to complete. Look out for updates on this page."

The council also confirmed the closure and reiterated that it's unclear when the road will reopen.
A Glasgow City Council traffic spokesperson said: "Due to Scottish Gas works, Dumbarton Road will be closed westbound between Queen Victoria Drive and Duchall Place starting on Tuesday 3 March at 11:30am.
"Updates will be issued in due course regarding the end date."
"Drivers are urged to seek alternative routes."
