A shop in Bearsden has successfully applied for permission to almost treble the size of its alcohol sales area, thereby offering more choice to customers.

East Dunbartonshire Licensing Board has approved a request from Murdo’s Corner Shop in Rannoch Drive to increase its alcohol area from under 5 square metres to almost 13.

No objections were received from the board’s statutory partners, with the licensing team noting that the most recent inspection of the premises found it to be compliant with requirements, while the health and social care partnership noted that although this would increase the availability and visibility of alcohol, the shop is located in Kessington East which statistically has low rates of alcohol related harm.
