A woman was taken to hospital following a "very serious" two-car crash that closed a busy Glasgow road.

Police were called to Great Western Road at its junction with Lincoln Avenue just before 2pm today.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted shortly after to assist police officers.

On images sent to the Glasgow Times, 999 crews can be seen blocking the road.

A force spokesperson confirmed that a woman was taken to hospital and a man has been issued a fixed penalty notice.

The road has since reopened.

One social media user described the incident as "very serious" and added: "[There were] lots of emergency services.

"Avoid the area if you can, they are keeping the traffic moving albeit slowly."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026, we were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Lincoln Avenue, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The road has since reopened and recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.

“A man was issued a fixed penalty notice in connection with a road traffic offence.”
