Man in Glasgow Sheriff Court after Knightswood 'murder bid'

A 36-year-old man has appeared in court accused of attempted murder during a late-night "disturbance" on a Glasgow street.

Mark McCourt, also known as Mark Stoaksley, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on May 4 in connection with an incident on Alderman Road in Knightswood.

He faces charges of assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger to life, attempted murder, and a further offence under the Criminal Law Consolidation (Scotland) Act.

McCourt made no plea and was committed for further examination.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again within eight days.

Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.40pm on Saturday, 2 May, 2026, we received a report of a disturbance on Alderman Road, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended, and a 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to what are described as serious injuries.

"A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged and due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 4 May, 2026.”
