A free exhibition offering a 'rare chance' to explore the history of Japanese kimonos has opened near Glasgow this weekend.
'Wearing Japan: A Visual History of Kimono' runs at the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch from today, Saturday, May 30, until August 6, with the official opening taking place at 2.30pm today.

More than 30 kimonos and accessories are on display, tracing the story of women's kimonos, how they have been made, and how they have changed over the last century.
The Auld Kirk Museum is located on Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, G66 1HN, and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
