A defibrillator has been installed at a Glasgow train station just months after a ‘heroic’ teenager helped to save a child’s life there.
Jordan Kerr had been waiting on a platform at Drumchapel in January this year, on his way home from Army Cadet training, when he heard screams for help coming from a mother whose young son is said to have “collapsed”.
The brave 15-year-old then “sprang into action”, performing first aid on the boy who was reportedly struggling to breathe.
Jordan performed CPR for more than 10 minutes whilst they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

Following the incident, the mother of the young boy put out an appeal on social media to thank Jordan for ‘literally saving her son’s life’.
The Drumchapel High pupil revealed that this was the first time he had ever performed CPR on a person after learning it through the Glasgow and Lanarkshire Battalion Army Cadet Force.
In the weeks afterwards, he launched a petition calling for a defibrillator to be put in place at the railway station to help protect others in the future.
This received more than 1000 signatures in support.
Now, this equipment has been installed, and Jordan says that he is “buzzing” to have been a part of making it happen.

The schoolboy said: “It got put in place a few days ago. I saw it as I got off the train. I was super happy and pure buzzing.
“I’m very proud of myself, and the community have said they are too. It is very important to have a defibrillator at the station as it can save somebody’s life in a heartbeat.”
The defibrillator was installed by ScotRail as part of a wider rollout of the life-saving equipment at stations across Scotland.
The rail operator noted that the installation reinforces its ongoing commitment to customer safety across its network, while recognising the extraordinary contribution Jordan has made to his community.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: “We are pleased to confirm a defibrillator has been installed at Drumchapel station, ensuring the community has access to potentially lifesaving equipment in the future.
“Jordan’s actions at Drumchapel station were nothing short of heroic. At just 15 years old, he showed remarkable composure, courage, and selflessness in an emergency situation.
“What makes this story even more inspiring is that Jordan didn’t ask for praise. Instead, he asked for something that would help others.
“Everyone at ScotRail is incredibly proud to recognise Jordan’s actions. He is a credit to himself, his family, and his community.”

The youngster, who is a big Jags fan, was invited onto the pitch at half-time to carry out the matchday draw, drawing applause from all corners of the stadium.
