Drivers in the city should prepare for significant road closures as part of the Kyle Street / North Hanover Street Avenue Project.
The first phase of the closure will begin on Monday, August 10, 2026, from the centre of the North Hanover Street / Cathedral Street junction, extending southwards for 30 metres.
The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place from 7pm until 7am, ending on August 12, 2026. During this time, Cathedral Street junction will be under temporary traffic signal control.
Following this, Phase 2 will commence on August 12, 2026, covering the area from the same junction northwards to the south end of the North Hanover Street / Killermont Street junction.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place from 7pm until 7am, concluding on August 15, 2026, with the Cathedral Street junction again under temporary traffic signal control.
Phase 3 will take place from August 17, 2026, moving from the south end of the North Hanover Street / Killermont Street junction northwards to the south end of the North Hanover Street / Cowcaddens Road junction.
The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place during the same hours, ending on August 20, 2026.
Finally, Phase 4 will begin on August 20, 2026, and will run until September 1, 2026, excluding Saturday and Sunday nights.
This phase will cover the area from the north end of the North Hanover Street / Killermont Street junction to the south end of the North Hanover Street / Dobbie’s Loan junction.
Signed diversion routes will be in place, and business access will be maintained throughout the works.
