A much-loved family-run business is set to close its doors for good after nearly seven decades of serving the community.
The Paint Pot, a painting and decorating store in Alexandria, will shut permanently at the end of August.
The team at the Bank Street business stated that this had been a “heartbreaking decision” but that the cost-of-living crisis and rising costs meant they were “no longer able to continue”.
In a heartfelt message to customers, the third-generation family store thanked those who had come through the doors over the past 67 years.

A statement posted on the Paint Pot’s Facebook page reads: “It is with great sadness that we announce that, after 67 years as a third-generation family business, we have made the heartbreaking decision to close our shop permanently.
“Our shop will be closing at the end of August. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, but due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and the rising costs of running a small independent business, we are no longer able to continue.
“We would like to thank every customer, supplier, friend, and member of our community who has supported us over the past 67 years.
“Your loyalty, kindness, and support have meant the world to us, and we will always be grateful. From our family to yours, thank you for everything and for being part of our journey.”
