A development of almost 500 homes is taking shape on the banks of the River Clyde.

Builders said they have reached a milestone in the construction of the Platform development at Central Quay, Broomielaw.

The structure has now reached its height of 20 storeys, making it one of the tallest in the city at 60 metres.

The £100m development is one of a number of build to rent schemes being put up in Glasgow city centre.

Once complete it will have 498 homes across four blocks ranging from six to 20 storeys.

The developer said the one, two and three-bedroom apartments will help to meet the requirement for new housing in the city centre, as demand continues to outweigh supply, with future-proofed housing stock for generations to come.

Matt James, senior project manager at Platform, said: “We’re delighted to see the building taking shape and reaching this milestone of 20 storeys.

“The project is running to plan, and we are looking forward to completing the development by Q4 2023.

“Platform will add to the skyline of Glasgow and help transform the Central Quay area. The tower will feature two 19th floor amenity spaces; a residents’ lounge and bookable private dining room with breathtaking views across the city.”
