A weatherman and his dog have lent their support to a festive campaign.
STV’s Sean Batty and his 11-year-old cavapoo, Harris, recently visited the Vets Now Glasgow specialist referral and emergency hospital in Glasgow to help highlight its holiday campaign message: “This Christmas, our lights are always on.”
The campaign raises awareness of the hospital’s 24/7 services and the dangers pets may face during the festive season.

Sean said: “Anyone with pets knows how unpredictable this time of year can be.
“There are so many more hazards around than usual, so it’s hugely reassuring to know that, if needed, emergency help is on hand at Vets Now.
“Harris has been treated here before, so I’ve seen for myself the amazing work the Vets Now team does, and I feel privileged to be part of this campaign, helping raise awareness of the vital support Vets Now provides for pets and their owners over the festive season.”

The hospital is preparing for what is typically its busiest time of year, with pet emergencies expected to rise by up to 60 per cent over the festive season.
Unexpected emergencies are common during the holidays, with pets often ingesting toxic foods or being injured by decorations.
In preparation for this busy time, additional veterinary teams are being scheduled and supplies are being stocked to handle the seasonal spike.
Katherine Howie, clinical nursing manager at Vets Now Glasgow, said: “Christmas is a brilliant time of year, and we want families – pets included – to enjoy it without worry.
“While the season brings a few extra dangers, the good news is that our dedicated clinical teams are here throughout the festive period, day and night, to help when the unexpected happens.
“Staying mindful of the risks goes a long way, and it’s important for pet owners to know that dedicated emergency care is always available here 24/7 if they do need us.”
