4 Thomas Campbell: Glasgow-born poet, he has a statue in George Square.
5 James Thomson: Borders poet, his most famous work was Rule Britannia.
6 Carol Ann Duffy: Born in Glasgow, she was appointed Britain's Poet Laureate in 2009.
7 Hugh MacDiarmid: Best-known for his poem, A Drunk Man Looks at the Thistle.
8 William McGonagall: The World's Worst Poet, famous for his poem about the Tay Bridge disaster.
9 Edwin Morgan: Born in Rutherglen, he became Glasgow's first Poet Laureate.
10 Lord Byron: Although born in London, he grew up in Aberdeenshire and wrote at length about Scotland.
