Glasgow Times editor: “Good morning driver, so what are you going to write about in your column this week?”
Me: “The Scotland men’s football team ahead of the big game on Wednesday night.”
Editor: “What? You wrote about them last week.”
Me: “Aye, but that was the last big game – and they won.”
Editor: “And you wrote about them last month.”
Me: “Aye, but that was the last big game before the last big game – and they won that night too. Do you see a pattern developing?”
Editor: “So as long as you write about them ahead of these supposed big games and they win you want to keep writing about them?”
Me: “That’s pretty much how it works!”
Editor: “So who are they playing in this big game tonight?”
Me: “Israel.”
Editor: “Again? Haven’t we just played them five minutes ago?”
Me: “Aye, a few times. But we beat them in the last big game before the last big game.”
Editor: “I can’t keep up. You’re a big Scotland fan then?”
Me: “Aren’t we all now?”
Editor: “It seems so … but who do you really support?”
Me: “Chuck that patter, please! … Anyway, we should all be over the moon with the way things are going. Scotland qualifying for Euro 2020 in 2021 means they’ll be in two group games at Hampden and another at Wembley. We’re all just praying things get better and the fans can get in.”
Editor: “Yes, joking aside we 100 per cent agree. It’s brilliant news for the country and for the city.”
Me: “So I can keep writing about Scotland then?”

Editor: “I’ll let you off with it today then maybe we can have a wee break before we ramp it back up next summer.”
Me: “Deal. Thanks. One more question from me … can you boogie?”
Editor: Leaves conversation.
Me: “Maybe he just needs a certain song! Mon the Scotland … stay safe, everyone.”
