I read Monday's article in which it was stated that "Tenants can swap homes to minimise the bedroom tax".

This article states that the Wheatley Group, which includes the GHA, has started a mutual exchange scheme which aims to match people who are looking to move to a smaller property with others wanting something bigger.

While the gentleman in the article, Ryan Hunt said that he was "Pleased to be given help with the move and the sorting of the new flat", not all housing associations offer this help. I had to move because of the bedroom tax and the only "help" I received was a "paint package" to decorate the flat, which was in a terrible state.

In being forced to move, I can no longer have family or friends over to stay, and I can assure you that I am not pleased with this move.

Clean it up...

I'M appalled at the state of some of the streets around Charing Cross in the city centre.

In Kent Road, for example, there's been rubbish lying next to the football pitch for months. Recycling bins in nearby tenements are also not being regularly emptied.

What do I pay my council tax for?

Union debate

What on earth makes Ron Campbell (Letters, December 30) think that the present incumbent at Holyrood will treat us any better if Scotland becomes independent?

To date the SNP has continually broken promises, and now we learn they have the effrontery to squander thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money on flowers for "their" offices.

They obviously haven't heard about food banks!

It would be refreshing to hear a politician promise that if he didn't deliver within 12 months, he would resign rather than blame "the last lot". But sadly, that will never happen.

Sorry Ron, I've lived to 79 thanks to Westminster, and hopefully I'll see my time out under them.

Remember the old saying: "Better the Devil you know"
