A VIGILANTE vandal has taken rogue parking problems into their own hands.

Residents at properties in Townhead are repeatedly finding their cars keyed, tyres slashed and petrol caps stolen.

This is what our readers thought:

I THINK the damage to the cars is pathetic and I hope the person(s) responsible are caught.

I think that the signs erected to this effect have no real legal weight.

The reason I say this is that the bays around the place form part of the road and are maintained at public expense therefore a vehicle is taxed insured and is not causing an unnecessary obstruction then there is no real impediment to anyone parking there.

MY elderly Mum lives in the area and the parking is a nightmare. There is insufficient parking for the residents, the high rise flats were built 40 plus years ago and there wasn't the same amount of cars on the road back then, so I guess 30 odd spaces for a block with 192 flats seemed okay. Non-residents parking has been a major problem for a long time now. Glasgow Housing Association couldn't care less.

THE whole Townhead area is a parking mess. There are boom gates across car parks, there are collapsible bollards in parking spaces and double yellow lines all over the area. There's even parking meters right outside the local school. I've seen cars in the area with two wheels on the pavement and two wheels on the road meaning that pedestrians are having to walk around vehicles and onto the road to get by. It's so close to the city centre and motorists don't/wont pay for parking when they can park for free.

I READ the story in the Evening Times about Robert Jamieson, a tireless fundraiser who was injured after being hit by a car.

I would like to wish him all the very best in his recovery.

Our communities need more people like Robert who are willing to go above and beyond for good causes.

Fingers crossed he is back on his feet in no time.

Thank you for an excellent article. The valuable and important work of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland deserves to be featured.
