LEE WALLACE today warned his Rangers team-mates there must be no repeat of the Ibrox club's woeful form on the road last season.

The defender said: "We want to do the opposite of what we did last season when we were far too slow to get our away form going. We want to hit the ground running on the road this season."

Gers slumped to embarassing away results against Peterhead, Berwick Rangers, Annan Athletic and Stirling Albion at the start of last season.

And they crashed out of the League Cup to part-time Forfar Athletic at Station Park a fortnight ago.

But the left-back is determined that Ally McCoist's team avoid a similar bad run on their travels this term.

And he is desperate for Rangers to record a League One victory over Stranraer at Stair Park tomorrow afternoon.

Wallace said: "It would be good to get an away victory under our belts this weekend in what will be a very awkward away fixture for us.

"We all know we are representing Rangers and must play to a high standard whenever we take the pitch.

"That is especially true away from home. We are looking to build on the win over Brechin at the weekend and get a good result at a difficult venue.

"We wanted to move on from the Forfar game and we did that. Now we must get our first away win in the league under our belts.

"We have put in good performances against Newcastle and Brechin. We have to maintain that at Stranraer tomorrow."

Wallace, overlooked for the Scotland squad that faced England in midweek, believes every Rangers star has a point to prove just now.

Manager McCoist, who is currently operating under a 12-month SFA signing embargo, is only able to field two trialists this month under SPFL rules.

And Wallace reckons the players who get the nod to play will be keen to show they deserve to be in his starting line-up from September 1.

He said: "There are a lot of players who are going to come in and challenge for a place. So all of the lads will be out to impress the manager.

"I am sure many of them will be wanting to show they deserve to be involved and will want to give the manager a real selection headache when he is able to pick everyone in the squad."
