NICKY Clark today predicted he can forge a potent goalscoring partnership with fellow-Rangers new boy Jon Daly.

Clark made a sensational competitive debut for the Gers against East Fife at Ibrox on Saturday - scoring after just 30 SECONDS.

The 22-year-old showed composure and technique to net the opener in the SPFL League One showdown in front of a crowd of 42,870.

His clinical finish suggested the front man, who banged in 40 goals for Queen of the South last season, will net regularly in the 2013/14 campaign.

Clark, the son of former Rangers player Sandy, played just off club captain Lee McCulloch at the weekend and clearly enjoyed the experience.

He is willing to play wherever manager Ally McCoist selects him and alongside whoever he is picked to play alongside - just as long as he gets a game.

Yet, when asked specifically if he feels he can strike up a good understanding with Daly in the weeks and months ahead he was positive.

"Jon is a different kind of player from me," he reflected.

"He is good in the air, wins a lot of balls, holds the ball up and lays on chances for those who play around about him.

"He does a lot of unselfish work for the team in the final third. He is an invaluable player to have in the side.

"I think that if I can get onto the end of them then hopefully I can put a few of them away. And maybe I, in turn, can create a few chances for Jon"

Daly found it more diffficult to open his account for Rangers and had disappointing days in front of goal against Brechin City at home and Stranraer away.

But the 30-year-old finally came good at the Excelsior Stadium when he struck twice in the second half as the Ibrox club ran riot.

Clark believes the Dubliner will go from strength to strength now he has got off the mark and is looking forward to playing alongsde him.

"Every striker has bad days at the office like Jon had," he stated. "I have certainly had a few of them in my time. Every striker has.

"But he took his two goals against Airdrie really well and I am sure that he will grow in self-belief as a result of that.

"I was really pleased for him. Although he had not been scoring his all-round play had been superb for the team.

"I am sure he is going to score a lot of goals for Rangers from now on as a result of the confidence he has gained from his last outing."

Daly, who had scored a double in the 6-0 rout of Airdrie the Friday before, was unavailable to face East Fife after playing three league games as a trialist.

However, the 12-month SFA signing embargo, imposed for the non-payment of taxes during the ill-fated Craig Whyte regime, has now expired.

And McCoist is now able to play all eight of his summer acquisitions - Cammy Bell, Clark, Daly, Ricky Foster, Nicky Law, Belil Mohsni, Arnold Peralta and Stevie Smith.

There is every chance Clark and Daly will lead the line together in the SPFL League One meeting with Arbroath at Ibrox on Saturday week.

The former is confident the Light Blues, who have scored 18 goals and conceded just one goal in their four games so far, will flourish when everyone is involved.

He pointed to how well they played together in the pre- season friendly against an expensively-assembled Newcastle United team at Ibrox earlier this month.

Clark said: "It gave me a great deal of confidence to play well against a Premier League team like Newcastle in front of a big crowd at Ibrox.

"They fielded a lot of good players that night, top international players, and we did well against them. We were unlucky not to win the game outright.

"The whole team performed well and it was only a late goal that denied us the victory. I think that showed the standard of players who have come in.

"That was the last occasion we were able to play all of the new signings. I think that shows that we can play really well now that we are all involved again."

Clark believes he will learn a great deal from the longest-serving player at Rangers - club captain McCulloch - in the remainder of the season.

The 35-year-old got the nod to play in attack due to the unavailability of Daly and promptly netted a hat-trick of headers against the men from Methil.

Clark laughed: "He was unbelieveable. He was a big help to me during the game. He spoke to me constantly about where where I should be going and what I should be doing.

"There are a lot of experienced players at the club and it is good for the young boys as we can turn to them for advice and help whenever we need it.

"We have a good blend at the club and hopefully we can improve even further as the season progresses."
