DALY says MATTHEW LINDSAY

DALY says MATTHEW LINDSAY

IT has taken Jon Daly some time to find his feet at Rangers. The big Irishman had a couple of bad days at the office, and then some, in his early appearances for the Ibrox club.

But the former Dundee United player has well and truly put those ropey showings behind him now. The four goals he scored in the 8-0 rout of SPFL League One rivals Stenhousemuir on Saturday underlined that.

The 30-year-old can score many different kind of goals. He netted three with his head and had one tap in at the weekend.

Vastly experienced, he has the guile needed to get the better of defences in the third tier of Scottish football. His physicality, too, will pose problems for many opposition teams both in the league and in the cup competitions Ally McCoist's side remain involved in.

Daly has now bagged seven goals in all competitions. If he stays injury-free I would expect him to top the scoring charts at Rangers this term.

McCULLOCH says JOHN McGILL

THAT Rangers captain Lee McCulloch has eight goals to his name this season despite playing most games at centre-half says a lot about him.

The 35-year-old is simply deadly in the air and poses a serious threat to opposition teams at set-pieces.

With Ian Black, Nicky Law and Arnold Peralta in the Gers side, McCulloch certainly has team-mates who can supply him with good balls. But there is more to his game than an aerial ability.

The long-range strike he powered in against Arbroath earlier this month underlined that. He also takes penalties and given the amount of pressure Rangers put on teams he should get a few of those.

Nicky Clark, Jon Daly and Andy Little are no slouches when it comes to finding the back of the net. However, I still feel their skipper will bag more than all of them.

To do so, he will probably need to avoid serious injury. But, having said that, he topped the scoring charts last season despite missing several weeks with an ankle problem.
