ST MIRREN newbie Adam Drury is keen to make a quick start to life in Paisley after joining from Manchester City.

Earlier this week the 20-year-old starlet became the second player to travel north from the Barclays Premier League champs, joining team-mate Ellis Plummer in the Saints ranks.

The deal to bring the babyfaced forward to Paisley had been in the pipeline since last week, with City club chiefs delighted with the way Plummer's been warmly embraced into the fold.

Now he's here, speedy right midfielder Drury has warned Buddies supporters that he intends to fly out of the traps when he is unleashed in the SPFL Premiership.

"I think I will fit in very well with the way St Mirren play," Drury said,

"Probably I could be best described as a sharp player. I'm quite quick and I like to get at people in one-against-ones.

"I spoke to Ellis before I came up here and he guaranteed me it's a good place to come.

"At this stage in my career I need to play first-team football."

Despite his age, Drury comes with a reputation for maturity. He joined City from Grimsby Town in 2011 and had a loan spell at Burton Albion in season 2012-13.

Boss Tommy Craig has been impressed with what he's seen so far in training from the youngster, who could feature against Dundee tomorrow when Saints get back to Premiership action.

And the Buddies gaffer reckons Drury's spell in Scotland could even see him earn a promotion to Manuel Pellegrini's first-team squad at City.

Craig said: "Adam is still at the very early development stage.

"When you see him he has a wee boy's face - but he has the heart of a man. He is no slouch and he likes a tackle.

"Hopefully his development will push him towards the Manchester City first team."

Craig completed another swoop last night as former Partick Thistle midfielder Isaac Osbourne agreed a one-year deal with the Saints.
