FIRHILL defender Stephen O'Donnell says there will be no Parkhead fear factor for Partick Thistle tomorrow.

Alan Archibald's side make the trip across Glasgow for a crucial Premiership clash on the back of Saturday's 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Hamilton.

But the memories of a 6-0 League Cup thrashing just a few weeks ago are still fresh for Archibald's squad.

Stuart Bannigan saw red as the Hoops ran riot, with John Guidetti bagging a hat-trick in a derby rout.

But O'Donnell is relishing the chance to make amends as Thistle look to inch closer to the top-flight top six.

He said: "We need to make sure we are switched on against Celtic because it doesn't get much tougher. I can't say that I am nervous. I thought we competed well with them in the first half that night.

"Hopefully we can keep 11 men on the park and, if we can do that, then we have a good chance. They had a free kick, which is a half-chance and scored, and they had another, but we contained them and got ourselves in a couple of decent positions where we could have done better.

"The first-half performance was nothing to be ashamed of, but the second half was shocking and we didn't feel good afterwards.

"We weren't at it, we weren't organised and everything we could have done wrong we did wrong.

"After any defeat, you feel really bad. Even if you win you might not feel great if you haven't played as well as you can individually, or as a team.

"The Celtic result from last time is gone. We got a good win on Saturday and tomorrow night is a different game."

A Ryan Stevenson double clinched Thistle's place in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup on Saturday as Archibald's side claimed a deserved Firhill win.

And O'Donnell reckons there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the Jags. He said: "We had some big players not playing. Steven Lawless was on the bench and he is a huge player for us, he is great on the ball and he gets into good positions for us.

"Kallum Higginbotham is coming back as well, so it is all positive. We just need to start putting a run together.

"As a team, we have a bit more consistency at the back.

"We have good players on the bench and in the stand as well who are capable of coming in. It is good to have a bit more depth this season."

Thistle have suffered a number of early exits from cup competitions in recent years.

A tie with St Mirren or Inverness Caley Thistle awaits early next year as the Jags target a prolonged stay in the competition this term.

O'Donnell said: "It was a good win for us on Saturday. I think this is the first time since I have been here that we are in the cup beyond Christmas.

"It would be great if we could go on a run now, but Celtic are our main focus for now."
