ALLY McCOIST has revealed he intends to sit down with Mark Hateley soon and get to the bottom of reports his old Rangers strike partner was actively undermining him.

Newspaper stories this week claimed former England star Hateley had formed an alliance with football board chairman Sandy Easdale and was working against McCoist.

The 53-year-old reacted furiously to those astonishing allegations and has spent the last couple of days attempting - without any success - to get in touch with his former team-mate.

McCoist, whose side take on Livingston in the SPFL Championship at Ibrox today, admitted he had not spoken to the man he formed such a lethal frontline with.

But the Gers gaffer stressed he had no problems with the reports and would be happy to speak to the ex-Monaco, AC Milan and Queens Park Rangers frontman in the near future.

He said: "I've not had a chance to speak to Mark but I will. It's another thing, but I've got to tell you I'm not annoyed and I'm not bothered.

"Big Mark and I have been through a lot together and we'll sit down and have a chat. It's simple. Mark and I go back a long, long time and I'm certainly not going to criticise big Mark at all. What big Mark and I will do is sit down and have a blether, no problem."

Asked if he thought there was any truth in the rumours, he said: "I genuinely don't know. I obviously read reports in the newspapers, but I think it would be very unfair of me to comment until big Mark and I have a chat, which we will do. We're both big boys and, as I say, we've been through an awful lot together."

McCoist stressed that he enjoyed a good working relationship with the Rangers board and his meeting with senior officials in midweek had been "very amicable".

He said: "How would I describe my relationship with the board? Absolutely fine. I attend board meetings and I've done a football report at every board meeting they've had recently.

"I went into the meeting on Wednesday looking to discuss handing in my notice. At no time did I think I wouldn't be walking out it as Rangers manager."
