Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson has urged his players to give a new generation of Jambos the taste of title glory.

The Edinburgh club would clearly rather be fighting it out in the top flight, but Neilson insists there is plenty of accolades to be had by finishing above Rangers and Hibernian in the race for a title.

Hearts have not won a title since a First Division success in 1980.

Speaking ahead of the runaway Scottish Championship leaders' trip to face Queen of the South, Neilson said: "We want to win the league. Financially, it's great for the club.

"Also for the fans, there's the prestige of winning a league with Rangers and Hibs in it.

"It would be huge for us. It's been a long time since Hearts have won any league.

"There's a whole generation of Hearts fans who haven't seen their team win the title, and we've got the chance to do that.

"That's our focus. We have to continue working day-to-day to get over that line."

Meanwhile, Hibernian manager Alan Stubbs insists his team are not getting carried away with recent optimism surrounding Easter Road.

Hibs go into their home fixture against Dumbarton on Saturday in high spirits, having comfortably beaten Rangers 2-0 at Ibrox last week to continue a 10-game unbeaten run.

Stubbs urged his players to carry the same mentality from the Ibrox win into Saturday's game against struggling Dumbarton - despite there being a five-place difference and 20-point gap between the two sides.

Stubbs said: "We have to be realistic. We're getting to the stage of the season where it's all about results and in order to keep getting results you have to keep putting performances in.

"They (players) need to keep to the standard they've been setting.

"It doesn't make any difference if we're playing Rangers or the teams near the bottom of the table, the mentality has to be the same."

Hibs won a thrilling contest 6-3 the last time the sides met, and Stubbs has backed the home fans to give his players an extra lift this time around.

"We're at home on Saturday and we know the fans will get behind us and back us all the way and that can be a real boost for the players.

"We know we've got to get on the ball and make things happen."
